About the job
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Hybrid Cloud Experience Engineering Intern to join us. In this role, you will be working with self-organizing teams spread across the world. Since we function as a start-up, there will be no limits placed on your role. You will have the freedom to define and extend your role to be able to help our teams to continuously improve. As Hybrid Cloud Experience Engineering Intern, you will support and guide your colleagues to deliver wins consistently for our group and our company. You will serve as a connection between our teams identifying challenges, suggesting solutions, and helping to make everything easier, smoother, and more efficient. You will receive plenty of support from your colleagues all over the world in addition to being assigned a mentor who will help you to learn, grow, and thrive in your role. You will have access to dedicated learning resources, people, and opportunities to find your place at Red Hat.
At Red Hat Developer Product Engineering Group, we do things a bit differently, as we have a set of unique values, amazing culture, and associates with a passion for working in open source. There is no hierarchy, just a set of individuals and teams working on a common mission with shared goals. Each team has picked a particular problem area that they want to solve and decide how they should integrate with other offerings, and with the rest of the company. There will be no micro-management, no directives telling them what to do. It's not always easy, as we are often working at the edge of technology and collaborating at a scale, seldom done in the industry. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Utilize retrospectives, one-on-one interactions, and feedback from other stakeholders
  • Help our engineers to work through people, technical, or process challenges
  • Help in capturing and escalating any challenges that are beyond the teams' ability to solve and follow up regularly to find resolution
  • Help the teams to focus on prioritization of issues that they are working on and ensure that their backlog is always kept up-to-date, keeping customer value as a top priority
  • Ensure that the teams are spending an appropriate amount of time in diligently planning their milestones, releases, and sprints by scheduling and facilitating the planning sessions
  • Help a few teams with organization and cross-collaboration matters
  • Put in place or tweak the structures you feel will help the teams to improve their planning and delivery using agile values and principles
  • Participate in technical discussions, planning sessions, and team retrospectives to understand and support your teams effectively
  • Strive to make collaborations as seamless as possible using tools, processes, best practices, and your own creative problem-solving skills

What you will bring

  • Ability to enjoy creating and working in an environment where ideas are openly shared, debated, and delivered
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills that have helped you create content and positioned you as a leader in some areas or activities
  • Experience with programming in order to appreciate and feel comfortable working with technology teams that have steep learning curves and solve problems
  • Passion for learning and growing; willingness to make significant contributions to the wider goals of the company
  • Flexible with understanding that everyone works differently; willingness to see other points of view and accommodate needs of others
