About the Role:

Baird’s Operations Department (“Ops”) is the best kept secret in the financial services industry and plays a critical role to the success and growth or the firm.  We partner with the different business and functions within Baird with the goal of driving efficiencies and reducing risk to the firm. The Securities Processing team plays an important role in safeguarding client assets through the receipt, transfer, registration, and maintenance of physical and electronic securities. The team works closely with branches, transfer agents, custodians and other Operations teams to support accurate and timely processing of securities transactions.

This internship requires working full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday and work part time during the school semesters, 15-20 hours per week, in our downtown Milwaukee, WI office. We are seeking a local student who can start January 2027 or earlier.

The Impact You’ll Make:

  • Assist in processing and clearing physical stock as well as book entry shares
  • Support the receipt, review and maintenance of physical stock certificates and related documentation
  • Learn how securities move through the financial system, including interactions with transfer agents, depositories and custodians
  • Research and resolve exceptions while ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently
  • Gain exposure to brokerage operations, risk management practices and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in daily team meetings and collaborate across the firm to help ensure highly efficient customer service
  • Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Receive firsthand mentoring and training

  • Anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later
