In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. The pRED Data & Analytics team is the bridge between digital technology and science, and brings together all competencies required to design, build, operate and evolve our digital landscape and the pRED-wide data backbone. We enhance the full scientific data pipeline from structured data capture to powerful data integration and efficient data interrogation in order to create and develop successful drug molecules as efficiently as possible.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a talented intern focused on prompt engineering in a collaborative environment. You will work closely with data and technology experts to refine and enhance the interaction with a large language model for document creation. The goal of this internship is to optimize prompt engineering techniques to expand the platform’s capabilities and improve its effectiveness in generating insightful documents. This internship is designed to be a learning experience, where you will:

• Develop and refine prompt engineering processes to optimize the LLM's outputs.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and incorporate new use cases.

• Troubleshoot and resolve challenges in prompt interactions.

• Document findings and methodologies for future reference and scalability.

• Drive the project independently with our guidance and mentorship.

• Gain hands-on experience in prompt engineering and working with large language models.

• Learn from experienced professionals and expand your knowledge in data science and AI.

• Engage in continuous learning opportunities and professional development.

We are looking for a candidate with a background in data science, computer science, AI, or a related field of studies who:

• Has a basic knowledge of Python and Git, as we work with a Python-based toolkit in a GitLab environment (a certain level of proficiency is required).

• Is a creative problem solver comfortable experimenting with new computational approaches.

• Has strong analytical skills and curiosity for optimizing AI interactions. 

• Has knowledge or experience in prompt engineering and a strong understanding of large language models (this is a plus but not mandatory).

• Clinical development knowledge would be a plus.

You are enrolled in or have recently completed (within 12 months prior to the start date) a computer science, AI, data science (or similar) B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree and are looking for a 6-month internship. You are used to working in a team environment. Your profile is rounded off by good communication skills in English.

Following the regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents. Furthermore, they need to be enrolled during the entire duration of the internship.

This internship is not suitable for a Bachelor or Master thesis.
