The opportunity
Join our Semiconductor Packaging and Reliability Engineering team at the Central European Hitachi Energy Research Center in Baden-Dättwil. You’ll contribute to a project focused on the reliability of HVDC stations, a key technology for long-distance, sustainable energy transmission. In this internship, you’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team, gaining hands-on experience in statistical modeling and reliability engineering. We offer a supportive environment where you can grow, learn, and make a real impact. The duration of the internship is 6–12 months.
How you’ll make an impact
Assist in researching and developing the reliability profile of HVDC station on the component level
Assist in developing and applying novel statistical and mathematical models for reliability analysis
Developing and implementing stochastic reliability models for components in HVDC stations
Documenting and communicating the solutions developed to ensure knowledge transfer within the research team, academic cooperation partners and relevant business areas
Your background
Currently pursuing a M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering, power engineering, physics, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering or a related discipline (official enrolment is essential)
Familiarity with reliability engineering and related concepts
Understanding fundamental concepts in statistics and probability
Programing skills for data analysis and machine learning are a plus
Fluency in written and spoken English
Good communication and cooperation skills, creativity and the ability to work independently
