Description of assignmentHow can AI help engineers spend less time on repetitive work and more time on innovation? During this internship or graduation project, you will join the DaVinci Engineering team to explore, develop, and implement AI solutions that improve engineering productivity across Vanderlande. Working closely with engineers and AI experts, you will identify opportunities where AI can add value by reducing repetitive tasks, streamlining workflows, and supporting daily engineering activities.
As part of the assignment, you will interview and observe engineers to gain insight into their work patterns, challenges, and opportunities for AI support. Based on your findings, you will analyze engineering activities and develop a framework that links different types of work to suitable AI solutions. Together with the engineering team, you will design, pilot, and implement at least five AI use cases, evaluate their adoption and impact on productivity, and provide recommendations for scaling successful solutions across other engineering teams within Vanderlande. By the end of the project, you will have made a tangible contribution to the adoption of AI within engineering, enabling engineers to spend less time on repetitive work and more time on innovation.

Tasks/responsibilities- Interview and observe engineers from different disciplines (mechanical, electrical, systems, architecture, and documentation) to understand their daily activities and challenges.
- Analyze engineering workflows and identify opportunities where AI can improve productivity, quality, or knowledge sharing.
- Organize workshops and co-creation sessions to generate, prioritize, and validate AI use cases together with team members.
- Design, pilot, and evaluate AI solutions in collaboration with Vanderlande AI experts, and provide recommendations for wider adoption across the organization
- Strong interest in applying AI to real-world engineering and productivity challenges.
- Analytical mindset with experience in research methods, data analysis, and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable interviewing and facilitating workshops with engineers from different disciplines.
- You are self-driven, curious, and capable of working independently in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience with Generative AI, machine learning, process improvement, automation, or data analytics is considered a plus
