Department: Flight Physics / Capabilities & Strategy
Internship Program (Title): Aircraft Geometry processing for Mass data
Objective:
Implementation of method in python to generate mass distribution and mass models for
-
Empty aircraft (OWE) from CATIA Geometries.
-
Payload & Fuel Models from 3D geometries of aircraft fuel tanks.
Main activities:
Empty Aircraft
-
Case Study on corner case geometries for better pre-processing.
-
Case study on clustering of geometries for better accuracy and runtime.
-
Creating different geometries out of geometrical data (mostly points).
-
Post-processing of the output aircraft mass data.
Fuel Tanks
-
Extension of fuel module (in python) to 3D geometry fuel tank inputs.
-
Visualization of fuel, payload, OWE mass clouds with enhanced user-interaction.
-
Designing optimizers for payload loading strategies in an aircraft.
Skills:
-
Basic knowledge of CATIA
-
Experience in Python Coding (Must Have).
-
Numpy, scipy (Must Have)
-
pythonocc, trimesh, pymesh, pymesh2 *
-
-
Backend understanding of STP, STL 3D geometries *
-
Experience with UI/UX, GUIs, Interactive dashboards (Good to have)
-
Dynamic Programming and Optimization Algorithms
* - Necessary for internship, intern needs to be open to learn
Specialization/Stream: Candidate with any engineering background and good coding in Python.
Duration of Internship: 6 months.
