As a subsidiary of DMR Technologies, Inc., we specialize in drone systems, precision agriculture, and educational partnerships that inspire the next generation of innovators. Our team blends engineering, entrepreneurship, and creativity to bring advanced drone solutions to real-world industries — from sugarcane fields to classrooms.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a driven Engineering, Business, and/or Marketing Intern to join our growing team in Detroit, MI. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives at the intersection of technology, design, and communication. You’ll work directly with our leadership team to support product development, field operations, marketing campaigns, and strategic partnerships — gaining hands-on experience in one of the fastest-growing sectors in tech.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your background and interests, duties may include:

Engineering & Technical Focus

  • Assist in drone assembly, testing, and calibration (hardware & flight systems).
  • Support flight data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Contribute to research and development of new drone components and educational kits.
  • Work with software and hardware teams to improve operational efficiency and documentation.

Participate in field demonstrations and pilot training events

  • Help coordinate project logistics, schedules, and procurement for drone training programs.
  • Support data management, CRM updates, and workflow systems (via Rippling, Google Workspace, etc.).
  • Assist with proposal writing, grants, and government liaisons (LED, university partners, etc.).
  • Contribute to the development of onboarding materials and process documentation for new hires.
  • Participate in financial tracking, budgeting, and cost analysis related to drone deployments.

Marketing & Outreach Focus

  • Assist in branding, content creation, and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Manage and grow social media presence (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
  • Support partnership outreach with agricultural organizations, schools, and industry groups.
  • Write blog posts, newsletters, and press releases highlighting First Flight initiatives.
  • Participate in event planning, media coverage, and demo day coordination.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in aerospace, drones, STEM education, or precision agriculture.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Experience with drone technology, CAD, or data visualization tools is a plus (not required).
  • Must be a team player, capable of working in both technical and creative environments.

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience in emerging drone technology and STEM program development.
  • Exposure to real-world projects in agriculture, education, and applied engineering.
  • Mentorship from industry professionals and company leadership.
  • Opportunity to travel for field demos, trade shows, and school programs.
  • A creative environment where your ideas have impact — not just busywork.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay: Commensurate with experience and education level.
  • Schedule: Flexible hours, 15–25 hours per week (full-time summer option available).
  • Hybrid work environment — occasional field or demo travel may be required.

What We Do

Based in Detroit, the heart of American engineering innovation, we don’t just think in terms of the commercial drone industry. We think of agriculture, construction, facilities management, public safety and the chemical-safe reclamation industries. We think in terms of solutions. Big challenges and microscopic. And that’s why we’ve built the most precise and reliable industrial drones in the market.

As for the how, we’ve had a drone in the air almost every day for a decade. That’s years of putting in the real work to master the technology of flight control and manufacturing. We didn’t wait for opportunities, we created them through precision manufacturing and use-case development. There’s a reason we’re called DMR Drone Manufacturing + Research: our clients don’t have the time for us to be reactive so we’ve already invested our time in being proactive. Building technology we can speak about with confidence. And considering the needs of our partners and industries.
