Internship Overview

As a Engineering Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in civil and environmental engineering within the context of solid waste management. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and operations staff to support landfill design, compliance, and daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with landfill design, grading plans, and cell development
  • Support environmental monitoring (e.g., groundwater, gas collection systems)
  • Help prepare engineering reports and regulatory documentation
  • Participate in site inspections and construction oversight
  • Analyze data related to landfill performance and environmental impact
  • Collaborate with operations on daily cover, leachate management, and compaction strategies
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives and long-term closure planning

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in outdoor and field-based environments
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
