ZEISS is seeking a motivated intern (f/m/x) to join our newly established AgTech department and work on a project focused on 3D Computer Vision and AI for high-end greenhouse robotics. This is your chance to actively contribute to a large strategic initiative aiming to revolutionize labor automation in agriculture with innovative robotic systems. As an intern (f/m/x) you will become part of a start-up minded team of scientists and research engineers (f/m/x). Your primary role will be to develop, implement, and evaluate perception algorithms that process and analyze 2D and 3D data, using approaches from computer vision, machine learning, and optimization. You will gain hands-on experience in a real-world research environment, tackle exciting technical challenges, and help us shape the future of agricultural automation.

Research and Development: Explore, prototype, and assess novel methods for real-time 3D perception and scene understanding in greenhouse robotics
Software Implementation: Integrate your solutions into the robotic software system, collaborating closely with other engineers and researchers
Performance Evaluation: Benchmark and optimize your algorithms for efficiency and robustness in real-world scenarios
Collaboration: Meet regularly with fellow team members and potential users (f/m/x) to understand practical challenges and requirements in agricultural environments
currently close to starting a master’s thesis in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field
strong interest in computer vision, machine learning, and robotics
solid programming skills in Python and/or C++; experience with ROS or real-time systems is an advantage
familiarity with 3D sensors or industrial camera systems is a plus
excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive, hands-on approach
ability to work well in an interdisciplinary, international team
good command of English; German skills are an asset but not required
