Our Manufacturing Engineer Interns will be located in various plants across our campus in Whitehall, MI. We are seeking highly motivated and energetic students to join our team. These positions will assist engineering with plant floor layout reconstruction, 5S projects and standardized work development.
The 2026 Summer Internship Program consists of 10-14 weeks of structured hands-on training involving plant tours, lunch & learn seminars, fun networking events to connect with fellow interns, and projects selected to add direct value to the business. At the conclusion of the program, each intern will present their projects to plant managers, supervisors, and mentors. An internship at Howmet Aerospace will provide an invaluable experience that you can utilize in any role, and it’s Howmet's goal to evaluate our interns for potential entry-level openings.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution (by May 2026).
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in engineering in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial
- AutoCAD, CAD/CAM, and Solidworks experience a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Relevant internship/work/research experience a plus
