Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking a motivated attorney with international trade experience to join our Washington, D.C. office. This role offers the opportunity to work within our established and growing International Trade practice group. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in trade-related matters such as CFIUS, customs compliance, and trade remedies and a desire to further develop within a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
Advise clients on a broad range of international trade issues, including but not limited to CFIUS reviews, customs (imports), sanctions, export controls, and trade remedies
Support international trade-related transactional and regulatory work, including representing clients before government agencies and in administrative proceedings
Provide guidance on compliance with U.S. trade regulations and free trade agreements
Draft and negotiate high-quality documents and submissions with precision and efficiency
Manage multiple matters simultaneously and deliver exceptional client service
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across offices and practice groups
Qualifications:
Experience in international trade; experience with CFIUS, customs compliance, or trade remedies is strongly valued
Strong drafting, analytical, and legal research skills
Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility for client matters and work both independently and in a team
Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills
Admission to the D.C. Bar, or eligibility to obtain admission through waiver
Willingness to travel internationally as required
