- Responsible for advising, consulting, guiding, enrolling and retaining qualified international students on F-1 visas using a consultative to approach to guide and support prospective international students through the process.
- Serves as the F-1 Designated School Official (DSO) and also Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 program, including official liaison to governmental agencies and ensures compliance with immigration regulations.
- May consult with leadership and legal council regarding complex immigration cases.
- Plans, develops and conducts workshops to educate the international community at the institution to include international students, faculty, and staff on current U.S. immigration regulations and compliance requirements.
- Develops and maintains relationships with schools and colleges regarding exchange visitor requirements for their respective international faculty, staff, scholars.
- Maintains knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations.
- Assist and plans cultural programs for institution stakeholders.
- Assists in monitoring foreign government policies and actions that may impact operations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Commitment to and understanding of the unique needs of international students on F-1 visas.
- Proficiency in planning, organizing, assessing and delivering a wide variety of events for a range of students.
- Ability to research and analyze information, including government documents and regulations, to solve problems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing ability, presentation skills, and the ability to communicate effectively to non-native speakers of English.
- Strong analytical and decision making skills with the ability to resolve complex issues.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
Education
Bachelor's Degree is required.
