Internal Tools Engineer

About you: 

Vital Biosciences is seeking an Internal Tools Engineer with experience in backend Python in both distributed computing and analytics. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing tools required to support Vital’s technical teams.

What you will be doing:

• Develop and maintain internal tools, pipelines, and frameworks for analyzing complex scientific and technical data sets.

• Collaborate directly with scientists, manufacturing, regulatory and other functional teams and engineers to understand project requirements, conduct exploratory data analyses, and deliver meaningful insights to guide product development and optimization.

• Design and implement interactive dashboards and visualizations to track key performance indicators, product performance metrics, and operational processes.

• Stay up-to-date with emerging tools, technologies, and methods in data science, and proactively recommend enhancements to existing processes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Experience with at least two production deployments of a large B2B or B2C application

• Experience integrating backend with front end experience in both Native and Web.

• Experience with data modelling for complex scenarios

• Familiarity with distributed stacks - AWS Lambda, Elastic, noSQL

• Production experience with Django

• Production experience with Python data science stacks - Pandas, Scipy and visualization libraries.

• Production chops - have a sharp point of view on what will and will not work

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (R&D scientists, engineers) 

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment and adapting to evolving priorities.

• Excellent problem-solving, data analysis and critical thinking skills.

• Will need to be onsite at Oakville. Negligible possibility of Remote work.
