Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for an Internal Only: Sr Principal Integration and Test Engineer (26-454) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.


Position Overview:


The Production Integration (PINT) Engineering Manager will provide leadership within the Integration & Test (I&T) Integrated Product Team (IPT). He will be accountable to the I&T Engineering Project Manager (EPM) for technical, cost, and schedule performance across multiple Product Integration Teams, including Modeling and Simulation, Automation, Regression Testing, COS, and HAL.


This role will ensure that efficient engineering processes are followed, enabling the delivery of capabilities to the C2BMC customer on schedule and within budget. The PINT Engineering Manager will manage dependencies among teams within Product Integration and support the EPM in managing external dependencies across the broader C2BMC enterprise.


The selected candidate will apply Agile principles to drive effective execution, maintain an integrated backlog, and provide organizational metrics to inform critical program decisions and continuous process improvement.


Essential Functions:


  • Be accountable to the I&T Engineering Project Manager (EPM) for the technical, cost, and schedule performance of the Product Integration teams (Modeling and Simulation, Automation, Regression Testing, COS, and HAL)
  • Work with the EPM to ensure that efficient, repeatable engineering processes are followed to deliver capabilities to the C2BMC customer on schedule
  • Manage dependencies among teams within Product Integration and support the EPM in managing external dependencies across the C2BMC enterprise
  • Adhere to Agile principles and ensure teams follow an Agile cadence to deliver the best possible product to the C2BMC customer
  • Identify, track, and report all Risks and Opportunities within Product Integration, including mitigation strategies and their execution status
  • Develop, manage, and present organizational metrics to inform critical program decisions and drive process improvement

Team leadership and execution responsibilities include:

  • Lead product teams to ensure the following are consistently carried out:
  • Teams are updating Jira daily
  • Features and stories are decomposed appropriately, and performance is captured accurately
  • Daily standups are held, and teams participate in inter-team coordination meetings.
  • Testing is conducted in accordance with program directives and documented procedures
  • Manage and report on team technical issues and their resolutions, including escalation to the EPM as needed
  • Support the EPM in proposal development, including authoring and reviewing BOEs and engineering estimates
  • Ensure the team's technical commitments are clearly understood, tracked, and met or exceeded
  • Produce ETC/EVM and other engineering metrics to identify and address technical or staffing issues while managing cost and schedule
  • Work with the EPM to provide timely, accurate projections of engineering resource requirements and to identify staffing needs
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of assigned features to meet technical commitments and support program direction
  • Ensure teams follow organizational processes and quality standards
  • Support the EPM in managing and forecasting technical maturity and in aligning scope with program direction

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Applicants must have a current, active Government-Issued 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their 8140 certifications throughout the entire contract period
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope Government-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Technical knowledge of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Missile Defense System (MDS), including sensors, shooters, command and control systems, and networks
  • Prior integration and test experience within the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including creation and management of capabilities, features, and problem reports/PRs
  • Domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: Networking, Linux, and/or Windows
  • Self-starter with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with Government customers and personnel internal and external to the program
  • Understanding of behavioral organization and leadership concepts as they relate to team effectiveness
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand and apply complex testing methodologies in a multi-tiered, multi-site testing organization
  • Ability to perform complex troubleshooting by analyzing application and system logs, network configurations, and interface documents

Primary Level Salary Range: $106,800.00 - $160,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
