Compensation

The compensation target range for this role is:

$59,500 - $70,000

Job Summary

The Internal Communications Specialist conceives, develops and executes communication strategies and campaigns aimed at engagement employees across different audiences. This role works effectively with teammates and internal clients alike and influences at all levels by adapting quickly when needed and supporting projects to help advance Purple’s purpose and values. They partner closely with different teams and leaders with the ability to solve complex problems and maintain a flexible and solution-oriented mindset.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and execute communication strategies. 

  • Develop audience-specific messaging to increase engagement 

  • Manage editorial calendar planning by sourcing engaging story concepts from leaders, teams, and associates. 

  • Create impactful messages for senior leaders, collaborating closely with the CEO and other executives to innovate a company-wide Town Hall approach. 

  • Anticipate and address communication needs proactively and effectively. 

  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication campaigns, adjusting strategies based on feedback and platform analytics. 

  • Create and advise on high-quality, compelling communications across all organizational levels and channels (e.g., email, presentations, posters, live events, videos, intranet), including managing video strategy for values. 

  • Advise key internal stakeholders on employee engagement and culture initiatives to ensure alignment with Purple’s employer brand. 

  • Provide guidance to lead stakeholders within the company, including the company engagement committee and the ERG leadership committee. 

  • Champion balance and belonging initiatives (DEI) through equitable communication and monthly engagement activities. 

  • Develop and maintain a consistent LinkedIn strategy to enhance internal communications externally. 

  • Lead the Spanish translation committee to ensure essential communications are effectively translated. 

  • Assist in the design and implement of new employee engagement surveys, craft and deliver messages for senior leaders, develop analysis presentations for leadership, and manage the communication of organizational goals. 

  • Collaborate with the employee experience specialist to create engaging events and experiences for employees. 

  • Support special initiatives as needed. 

 

 

Required Skills, Education, Experience: 

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Communications or other related discipline preferred 

  • 2-3+ years experience in internal communications 

  • Proven consulting skills with the ability to work across all levels of an organization. 

  • Exceptional and effective written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and foster collaboration and teamwork. 

  • Able to create compelling and informative visuals for internal marketing. 

  • Proficient use of tools such as Canva. 

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills. 

  • Project management experience. 

  • Experience utilizing a variety of employee communication vehicles 

  • Strong survey writing and development skills to provide insights on effective communication.  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.).

  • Remaining in stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods of time.  

  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 15 pounds in all directions. 

 

Physical activities may constantly include:  

  • Communicating with others to exchange information. 

  • Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. 

  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.
