SAIC is seeking a creative, organized and experienced Internal Communications Principal to lead the day-to-day delivery of HR communications. This role is ideal for a strong writer and hands-on communicator who can turn complex information into clear, engaging content and manage projects from planning through publication. This position can be worked remotely anywhere in the United States for the right candidate.  Candidates must be U.S. Citizens.

Reporting to the Internal Communications strategic lead for HR, you will translate communications strategy into coordinated campaigns that help employees understand their benefits, develop their careers, navigate change and connect with SAIC. You will partner closely with HR teams and Corporate Communications to manage content, deadlines, approvals and publishing across employee channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute integrated, multi-channel HR communications plans aligned with the strategy and messaging established by the HR communications lead.
  • Manage communications delivery for benefits, performance management, talent development, employee surveys, employee communities and other HR initiatives.
  • Write and edit employee emails, intranet stories, FAQs, leader toolkits, talking points, presentations and other communications in SAIC’s HR voice.
  • Translate complex HR information into concise, accurate messaging that explains what employees need to know and what action to take.
  • Maintain the integrated HR editorial calendar, coordinate timelines and identify opportunities to combine messages, reduce duplication and avoid competing deadlines.
  • Manage incoming communications requests, clarify objectives and audiences, and recommend channels using established guidelines.
  • Support a more coordinated employee experience by using targeted email, SAICGo, manager cascades and evergreen intranet content appropriately.
  • Own the upload, formatting and publication of HR stories in SAICGo, including images, links, tags, scheduling, accessibility and final checks of published content.
  • Coordinate featured placement and digest inclusion with channel owners.
  • Manage stakeholder reviews and approvals, confirm information with HR subject-matter experts and keep projects moving through publication.
  • Prepare drafts of executive and leader communications under the direction of the HR communications lead.
  • Monitor communications performance and employee feedback, and recommend improvements to content, timing and channel use.
  • Flag sensitive issues, competing priorities and decisions requiring strategic guidance.
  • Learn and use communications and marketing platforms, including FirstUp and MarketScale, to publish content, deliver targeted communications and review campaign performance.
  • Analyze email performance metrics, including delivery, opens, clicks and audience engagement, to identify opportunities to improve subject lines, content, calls to action, targeting, timing and frequency.
  • Translate performance data into practical recommendations and test improvements in future communications.


What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience delivering employee communications and managing multiple campaigns in a complex organization.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to make technical or policy-heavy information clear, conversational and actionable.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including ownership of calendars, deadlines, review processes and deliverables.
  • Sound editorial judgment and an understanding of how audience, purpose and urgency should guide channel selection.
  • Hands-on experience publishing content through an intranet, employee communications platform or content management system.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, including accuracy, formatting, links, accessibility and consistency.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to ask questions, recommend alternatives and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate needs and exercise judgment about when to involve the strategic lead.
  • Experience communicating with a distributed workforce, including employees working at customer sites.
  • Comfort using engagement data and employee feedback to improve communications.
  • A creative mindset and a practical approach to solving problems and improving workflows.
  • Comfort learning new communications and marketing tools, including FirstUp and MarketScale, and applying them to day-to-day campaign delivery.
  • Ability to interpret email and campaign metrics, identify patterns and recommend changes that improve employee engagement and action.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field, and 10 years of experience. Master’s degree and 8 years of experience. 
  • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens 
  • Seven or more years of relevant communications experience.
  • Candidates must have a strong command of AP Style.
  • Experience managing communications projects from planning through publication.
  • Proficiency with digital publishing tools and Microsoft Office applications.
  • HR or change communications experience preferred.
  • Experience using digital communications or marketing platforms and reviewing campaign performance; familiarity with FirstUp or MarketScale preferred.
