About the role

The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for planning, creating, and delivering clear, engaging, and impactful communications that strengthen employee understanding of company goals, culture, and initiatives.

This role partners closely with leaders and teams across the business to ensure employees are informed, connected, and aligned. 

You will manage the current internal communications platform, whilst also optimising other internal platforms such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and explore alternative employee engagement apps.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning 

  • Develop and execute internal communications strategies that support business priorities, cultural initiatives, and organisational change. 
  • Advise leaders on communication best practices and help shape messaging for key internal announcements. 
  • Create and maintain the internal comms plan aligned with business objectives, including a clear schedule of internal comms, working closely with our Marketing team. 

Measurement & Reporting 

  • Track performance of communication channels and campaigns, using data to recommend improvements. 
  • Prepare periodic reports summarising engagement metrics, trends, and opportunities. 
  • Content Creation & Delivery 
  • Write, edit, and distribute high-quality internal content including intranet posts, internal comms documents, podcast/video scripts and draft HR copy for people updates. 
  • Manage the intranet as a key internal comms communication channel for staff.  
  • Produce engaging multimedia content such as short videos, employee stories, and visuals where needed. 

Employee Engagement 

  • Support the planning and delivery of company-wide events such as town halls and employee engagement campaigns. 
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition, L&D, HR Advisory and wider HR teams to promote initiatives for staff that improve employee engagement 
  • Partner with Marketing, Compliance, IT, Finance and our Partners & Directors as the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to coordinate key internal comms messages 
  • Monitor employee feedback and adjust messaging and channels to maximise engagement 

What we expect of you

  • Proven experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or corporate communications. 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics. 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence advising senior leaders. 
  • Experience managing multiple communication channels and formats. 
  • Ability to work under pressure with excellent organisational and project-management skills. 
  • Experience supporting change management programmes would be a distinct advantage.
