Internal Communications Intern

We are looking for creative, detail-oriented candidates with strong communication and storytelling skills. 

As an Internal Communications Intern, you will work closely with our Human Resources and Corporate Communications teams to evaluate communication needs for our employees across the U.S. and globally. You will assist in developing and executing engaging internal communication strategies, crafting effective messaging for diverse employee audiences, and supporting key initiatives that enhance employee experience and engagement. 

The successful Internal Communications Intern will have the following Minimum Qualifications: 

• Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in communications, public relations, digital media, graphic design, media studies, English, journalism, or marketing at an accredited university or college. 

• Junior, senior, or graduate student standing. 

• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint). 

• Basic knowledge of digital content creation, including social media platforms. 

The ideal Internal Communications Intern will have the following Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite or other design and creative platforms. 

• Skills in video production and editing (a portfolio of design projects and videos will be requested). 

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. 

• Professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences. 

An HYMH Internal Communications Intern will have the following Key Accountabilities: 

• Develop, manage, and implement a communications project and plan from start to finish. 

• Support internal engagement initiatives and employee experience programs. 

• Write, develop, and distribute content and messaging across multi-media internal communication channels, including digital and social media outlets. 

• Design and produce communication materials, including print and graphic design elements. 

• Assist in video production, from scripting to editing and distribution. 

• Collaborate with various teams to ensure clear, effective messaging for company-wide initiatives. 

• Develop a solid understanding of the assigned role by engaging in on-the-job training and receiving mentorship.  

• Complete assigned tasks with guidance from your supervisor and team, gaining valuable insight into functional operations, management practices, and leadership strategies.  

• Build technical, managerial, and leadership competencies through hands-on experience and exposure to various assignments, preparing for a successful future as an employee or manager.  

• Actively participate in team projects and contribute to team meetings to support collaboration and achieve project goals. 

This internship program is hybrid, with the majority of work conducted in-person at the Americas Headquarters in Greenville, NC. Interns must arrange their own transportation to and from the internship location.
