Job DescriptionAre you a Financial Crime assurance leader looking to move away from legacy, manual audit routines and build data-driven, tech-enabled audit practices?
We are looking for an Internal Audit Senior Manager (FinCrime) to join our growing EU Internal Audit team in Brussels. In this role, you won't just run audits, you will directly shape how Internal Audit operates at Wise globally.
You will lead complex FinCrime audit engagements, manage internal and external partner teams, and influence key stakeholders across governance, risk, and control functions.
If you thrive in a fast-paced fintech setting where technology, continuous monitoring, and autonomy take centre stage, this role is built for you.
What You’ll Be Doing (Your Mission)
- Automate & Innovate: Advance our internal audit framework by developing continuous monitoring tools and automated audit routines.
- Shape Strategy: Drive the annual audit plan—defining the audit universe, risk assessment models, and resource budgeting.
- Deliver High-Impact Audits: Lead end-to-end FinCrime audits per the annual plan, turning complex findings into actionable, business-critical insights.
- Align Assurance: Lead strategic cross-functional projects to create a unified, seamless assurance model across Wise.
- Build & Mentor: Empower and guide a high-performing, self-sufficient internal audit team.
- Track Real Progress: Oversee the implementation of audit recommendations and measure the real-world impact of control enhancements.
What We’re Looking For
We know great candidates don’t always tick every single box. If you hold strong assurance experience in financial services and a passion for technology, we want to hear from you!
Core Experience & Expertise
- FinCrime Specialisation: Deep expertise across key financial crime domains (FinCrime risk management, KYC/KYB, EDD, Transaction Monitoring, Screening, and Reporting). Experience with sanctions and financial crime models is a strong plus.
- Regulatory Context: Strong understanding of EU Money Laundering Directives, FATF, and Wolfsberg guidance.
- Assurance & Controls: Proven track record in risk, control, or internal audit roles within Fintech, Tech, or Financial Services.
- Data & Tech Drive: Enthusiasm for leveraging technology, data analytics, and continuous monitoring in audit workflows (hands-on data analytics experience preferred).
- Execution & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to scope audits, lead risk-based testing, manage cross-functional projects, and mentor junior team members.
- Communication: Ability to distill complex risk topics into concise, clear insights for stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications (Preferred, Not Mandatory)
- Relevant professional certification: CAMS, CFE, ICA (Diploma/Cert), or CIA (or equivalent practical experience).
Why Apply?
- Hybrid Working: Flexible balance between home and our Brussels office.
- Modern Fintech Culture: Less red tape, higher autonomy, and an emphasis on data-driven decision-making over manual paperwork.
For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.
We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
