This role will be based in our Washington, D.C. office on an in-office basis.

Position Summary:

The Intern will provide research and practice specific assistance to support several team members. Qualified candidates demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities and work in an organized, efficient manner. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.     

Key Responsibilities:

The Intern will be supporting a very busy team.  Duties include, but are not limited to:     

  • Conducts thorough research on legislative issues, bills, and policy proposals

  • Monitors and tracks the progress of legislation, committee hearings, and other legislative activities, providing updates, summaries, and detailed memos

  • Assists in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies and initiatives to support the legislative policy goals and objectives

  • Performs administrative tasks and schedules and coordinates meetings. Prepares meeting materials and agendas as needed

  • Organizes and facilitates client focused events, meetings, and fundraisers

  • Serves as a key point of administrative contact for clients and business colleagues as well as many public officials

  • Drafts communication including memos, letters and email

  • Maintains strict confidentiality on all matters

  • Assists with the management of client relationships

  • Coordinates business development initiatives with marketing department

  • Hours are 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

  • Candidates should be extremely organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize their workload and work well under pressure.

  • The successful candidate should be a self-starter, forward-thinking, action-oriented and focused.

  • Must have strong client service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a positive can-do attitude. 

  • Document Production other than letters is occasional.  

Education & Prior Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

Technology

  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.

  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), including core capabilities, limitations, and importance of data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations within a professional services environment.

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools) and incorporate them responsibly into day-to-day workflows to enhance daily work tasks as appropriate and/or directed.

  • Proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging AI and related technologies and contributes to a culture of innovation.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move from workstation or desk throughout the work area to work independently or with a team to meet with colleagues or supervisor and retrieve work assignments.

  • This position may also be sedentary and require the employee to sit for extended periods of time.

  • Requires manual dexterity to use a phone, enter data into a computer, handle objects, and use office equipment.

The expected pay range for this position is:

$20 per hour

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.  Additional voluntary programs include:  voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance.  Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
