AltaGas is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern, Tax to join our Corporate Tax team for the 2026 summer term. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students pursuing careers in accounting or tax to gain practical industry experience in a collaborative and supportive environment.
As a Tax Intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals on a variety of tax compliance, reporting, and research activities that support AltaGas’ operations across Canada and the United States.
What You’ll Do- Assist in preparing corporate income tax returns and supporting working papers
- Help compile information for indirect tax filings, including GST and sales/use tax
- Conduct tax research and summarize findings to support tax planning initiatives
- Organize and maintain tax documentation and records in accordance with internal controls
- Support ad hoc tax projects, audits, and cross-functional initiatives as required
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and standardize documentation
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
- Interest in pursuing a CPA designation
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn new concepts
- Previous tax or accounting experience (co-op, internship, or coursework) is an asset
- Meaningful, hands-on learning experience
- Exposure to a professional corporate tax environment
