The Tax team plays an essential role in supporting the Company’s success by ensuring compliance across federal, state, and local tax obligations while driving efficiency and accuracy in all tax-related processes. By providing timely reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and delivering actionable insights, the team helps Ventas uphold its financial strength and position for long-term growth.
About the Role
The Ventas Tax team is seeking an intern in 2026 for a year-long internship to support the Company’s federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting activities. Based in our Louisville, KY office, the intern will gain hands-on experience in corporate tax while developing technical skills and exposure to a wide range of tax processes. This role offers a strong foundation for students interested in accounting, taxation, or corporate finance. Key areas of focus will include:
- Income Tax
- Assist in preparing accurate and timely federal, state, and local income tax returns
- Compile, analyze, and organize financial data to support complex tax calculations and reporting
- Prepare supporting schedules and maintain complete post-filing documentation, including notices, adjustments, and refunds
- Support preparation of K-1 packets for joint venture partners
- Specialty Tax
- Prepare recurring monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
- Assist with business license filings and compliance
- Respond to specialty tax notices and inquiries
- Contribute to ad hoc projects that enhance efficiency and accuracy across the Tax Department
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a sophomore or higher in a four-year accredited college or university; pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field
- Completion of at least two accounting courses required; coursework in taxation is a plus
- Strong academic performance with a minimum 3.5 GPA
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office products
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication (written and oral) skills
- Self-starter who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work under deadlines
- Must be able to work onsite in Louisville, KY at least two days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) during standard business hours, with a commitment of 20–25 hours per week
- Must be available to begin internship in January 2026
- Must have permanent, unrestricted U.S. work authorization (no current or future sponsorship)
