Intern - Systems Engineering

Job Summary

We are excited to announce that we have an opportunity for an intern to join the Medical Device Division this summer 2025.
*This position requires working onsite 3+ days per week in our Lake Zurich, Illinois office.
*U.S. work authorization required: Fresenius Kabi will not sponsor work visas or other employment authorization.
*Pay rate is $20.50-23.00 per hour, depending on completed academic years
*Fresenius Kabi does not provide a housing stipend or relocation assistance for summer internships.

Responsibilities

This position requires working onsite in Lake Zurich, Illinois 3+ days per week.

• Develop and/or analyze system- and subsystem-level requirements for medical devices that include electromechanical hardware, software, disposables, and labeling.

• Develop test methods to explore design options, challenge requirements, and qualify components.

• Execute tests of apheresis devices at the system and subsystem level.

• Record data with good documentation practices, including making observations.

• Investigate issues to determine root cause. Analyze data, and interpret and document results.

• Generate clear and detailed technical documentation.

Requirements

• Must commit to working 8-12 weeks this summer.

• Currently enrolled as a student at a 4-year accredited college or university program and in their 2nd-4th year of studies pursuing a related degree.

• Biomedical, mechanical, or similar engineering disciplines preferred

• Must be planning to return to school at the end of the internship.

• U.S. work authorization required: Fresenius Kabi will not sponsor work visas or other employment authorization.

• Ability to work with a cross-functional team, as well as independently.

• Ability to work in our Lake Zurich, IL lab a minimum of 3 days per week.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Familiarity with biological laboratory processes preferred.
