Intern – R&D Advanced Product Development – San Diego, CA – Summer 2026

Are you interested in an Internship opportunity with Philips? We welcome individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) degree to participate in 3 month paid intern opportunities at our site in San Diego, CA. Through this role, you will gain hands-on experience working for a HealthTech company at the forefront of innovation.

Your role:

• In this role, you will support the Advanced Development Group in the creation of next-generation devices for coronary and peripheral interventions.
• You will be involved in hands-on prototyping and testing, working alongside a dynamic team of engineers and researchers.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to both the conceptualization and execution of innovative medical solutions.
• You will gain experience in the application of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies within a highly regulated medical device industry.

You're the right fit if:

• You are currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related program.
• Your skills include: hands-on prototyping, CAD, lab experience, creative problem solving, strong written and verbal communication, and an eagerness to learn.
• You’ve acquired 2+ years of experience in university coursework and/or previous internships or co-ops.
• You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The hourly pay range for this position in San Diego, CA is $29.00 to $32.00, plus overtime eligible. The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.

Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position.  For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to San Diego, CA.
