The Intern Project Manager is responsible for the strategic management, development, and continuous improvement of Acutec Precision Aerospace’s ASCEND Internship Program. This position serves as the primary point of coordination for interns, supervisors, educational institutions, community partners, and internal stakeholders, ensuring the program delivers a meaningful and structured experience for students and recent graduates while supporting Acutec’s current and future workforce needs. 

The Intern Project Manager will lead the full lifecycle of the ASCEND program, including workforce planning, recruitment and selection, onboarding, training and development, intern engagement, performance management, program evaluation, communications, community partnerships, and post-internship talent retention. The position will use program data, participant feedback, business needs, and industry trends to continuously evaluate and enhance ASCEND.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the ASCEND Internship Program. 
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year program strategy designed to support Acutec’s workforce planning, talent pipeline, and succession needs. 
  • Continuously evaluate the structure, policies, procedures, curriculum, and participant experience of ASCEND and recommend improvements. 
  • Establish measurable program objectives, performance indicators, and success metrics. 
  • Develop recommendations for program expansion, including additional academic disciplines, educational institutions, geographic markets, internship opportunities, and career pathways. 
  • Identify opportunities to increase intern retention, return rates, and transition of successful interns into full-time employment. 
  • Develop and maintain program operating procedures, guidelines, timelines, and documentation to ensure consistency and scalability. 
  • Partner with department leaders and supervisors to identify current and future internship needs. 
  • Review intern job descriptions and ensure responsibilities, qualifications, learning objectives, and project expectations are clearly defined. 
  • Work with managers to identify meaningful projects and experiences that provide value to both the intern and Acutec. 
  • Explore and develop co-op, externship, apprenticeship, and other early-career opportunities that complement ASCEND. 
  • Partner with the Acutec Recruiter to establish recruitment priorities, timelines, target schools, programs, geographic markets, and candidate profiles. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, technical schools, workforce development organizations, and community partners. 
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, candidate evaluation, and selection processes. 
  • Establish a progressive development model that increases responsibility and learning opportunities throughout an intern’s participation in the program. 
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback, supervisor input, performance outcomes, and other relevant measures. 
  • Serve as a primary resource and point of contact for ASCEND interns throughout their participation in the program. 
  • Provide guidance to supervisors regarding intern selection, onboarding, performance expectations, coaching, feedback, and development. 
  • Promote ASCEND internally and externally through appropriate communication channels. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Key Roles 

  • Develop, Proceduralize, and maintain the Acutec ascend internship program 
  • Recruit, Interview and help select interns for the program 
  • Partner with high schools, technical schools, and colleges to develop programs with unique opportunities at Acutec 
  • Work with Acutec supervision and management to establish meaningful work and exceptional experiences to Acutec interns.

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field preferred. 
  • Three to five years of progressive experience in human resources, talent acquisition, program management, workforce development, education, organizational development, or a related field preferred. 
  • Experience managing internship, co-op, early-career, workforce development, or talent pipeline programs strongly preferred. 
  • Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and demonstrated capability may be considered. 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and continuously improve complex programs. 
  • Strong understanding of talent acquisition, employee development, workforce planning, and early-career talent strategies. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to analyze program data, identify trends, measure outcomes, and translate findings into actionable recommendations. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR, recruiting, project management, or data-tracking systems. 
  • Ability to represent Acutec professionally in educational, community, and industry settings.
