Summary

As an Intern – Process Engineer, you support engineering activities that contribute to efficient and accurate printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing at North Atlantic Industries. You gain hands-on experience applying engineering principles, manufacturing software, and technical documentation in an electronics manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Support engineering activities associated with surface mount technology (SMT) and PCBA manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions and process routings using shop floor software.
  • Generate and maintain machine programs for equipment used throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Create and maintain component packages for pick-and-place equipment to support accurate PCBA production.
  • Create and update PCBA panel drawings using AutoCAD to support manufacturing requirements.
  • Review production quality data and prepare reports that support production review and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Pursue a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrate basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn engineering and manufacturing software.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal English.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize, prioritize, and complete assigned work within established schedules.

Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrate familiarity with electronics manufacturing, PCBAs, or SMT manufacturing processes.
  • Apply basic knowledge of AutoCAD or similar computer-aided design software.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills when reviewing manufacturing and quality information.
  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively with engineering and manufacturing personnel. 

This is a paid Internship. Internship salary is based on position and academic year standing.

This is a year-round internship requiring 15-20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters, and up to 40 hours per week during the Summer, with work performed on site.
