- Location: Immerse yourself in our innovative culture! This role requires a commitment of 4-5 days in-office per week at our facility in Garden Grove, CA as well as full-time hours (40 hours a week).
- Duration: 8 weeks for quarter or 15 weeks for semester (January 11 to April 30 OR January 11 to March 12)
- Relocation Support: A $1,000 relocation stipend is available for interns currently residing more than 50 miles from Garden Grove, CA.
- Compensation: Earn an hourly rate of $25-35 USD per hour.
Harbinger Motors is a VC funded early-stage electric vehicle startup based in Garden Grove, California focused on the commercial space. We are currently seeking an ambitious Software Engineering student to join our MES team. As an intern, you will have various opportunities to contribute to rollout and upgrades to the Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The primary responsibilities for this position will be Supporting MES on the shop floor with technical issues, documenting issues (bug reports), documenting functionality (“how to”). The role also offers the opportunity to build valuable experience at a fast paced, high growth startup during a critical early product development stage.
What You'll Do:- Frontline MES Support: Act as the primary onsite point of contact for machine operators, supervisors, and production staff experiencing issues with the MES or traceability systems.
- Hardware & Device Deployment/Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot, repair, and deploy factory floor hardware, including barcode scanners, label printers, thin clients, tablets, and operator workstations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with process engineers, QA, and senior IT staff to investigate recurring system issues and test new MES configurations on the floor.
- Ticket Management: Create, triage, and resolve help desk tickets in real-time, ensuring detailed documentation of the root cause and the fix.
- Basic IT Administration: Perform routine IT tasks such as password resets, managing Active Directory user accounts, and testing local network connectivity.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine daily checks on critical floor IT equipment to identify and resolve potential failures before they impact production.
- Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program or greater in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science/Software Engineering, and/or Data Science / MIS
- Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain J-1/F-1 visa
- IT Fundamentals: Basic knowledge of Windows 10/11 troubleshooting, PC hardware, and standard office applications.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize multiple urgent requests in a fast-paced, high-traffic manufacturing environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively translate technical issues between production staff and senior engineering teams.
- Availability: Must be able to work the standard first shift, with occasional flexibility for early morning start times or crossover meetings.
- Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Previous exposure to a manufacturing or plant floor environment.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and how MES applications connect with factory equipment.
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts (IP addresses, switches, and routers).
