Summary: 

  

As the Intern – Mechanical Engineer, you will support mechanical design activities for new and existing NAI products. You will gain hands-on experience with mechanical drawings, design changes, thermal and vibration considerations, and manufacturability of high-reliability electronic systems.

This Internship is for Summer 2027.

Requirements

  • Assist in preparing mechanical drawing updates and engineering change documentation.
  • Support the development and detailing of mechanical designs for new and existing products.
  • Contribute to thermal and vibration analysis and related design evaluations.
  • Assist with fixture and tooling design in support of Manufacturing and Production Engineering.
  • Evaluate mechanical design constraints that affect product performance and manufacturability.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate design updates to engineering stakeholders.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • Pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Complete coursework in advanced mathematics, physics, or related engineering subjects.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of electronics and electronic components.
  • Communicate effectively and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Person, defined as either a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), and must be able to provide appropriate documentation upon hire to verify this status. Please note that some positions involve sensitive customer contracts and require U.S. citizenship as a condition of employment. 

 Preferred Skills 

  • Demonstrate experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar tools.
  • Possess exposure to structural, thermal, or mechanical analysis software.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with mechanical drafting standards and practices.
  • Possess coursework, project, or internship experience related to manufacturing or product design.

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Monday to Friday, Day Shift
  • Discretionary 9/80 Schedule
  • Business casual dress code

Full-time schedules for Summer internships. Approx. Start Date End of May/Beg of June. Internship salary is based on position and academic year standing.

Skills Required
