Compensation Range

Hourly: $20.00 - $20.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

 

LJ Hart underwrites municipal bonds to help local governments including school districts, counties, cities, and others entities borrow money on a tax-exempt basis to meet capital facilities and equipment needs. We are currently seeking a motivated, organized, and customer focused individual for an investment banking internship opportunity.

 

The summer internship session will begin on Tuesday, May 18, 2027, and will run for 11 weeks, ending on Friday, July 30, 2027. Internships are paid, full-time opportunities with a Monday through Friday work schedule.

Work Schedule

  • 40 hours per week

  • Hours of operation: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

  • Occasional travel within Missouri to Board meetings (expected about twice per month)

  • Location: Clayton, MO

 

Essential Functions

  • Interpreting data for the purpose of analyzing past financial trends in order to project future debt possibilities

  • Develop multi-million dollar financing structures for General Obligation Bond and Capital Facilities Lease issues for a variety of municipalities including school districts, fire protection districts, cities, and counties

  • Provide expertise in cash flow analyses, new money financings, refinancing of debt, bonding capacity, election support, and long-term financial plans

  • Analyze municipalities' current debt structures and prepare financing proposals to present at public meetings

  • Manage documents for financings, record keeping, and other professional office activities

  • Ensure file organization based on office protocol

  • Perform ad-hoc support and other duties as needed Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required

Education & Experience

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a Business Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 1+ year related experience preferred
