The Legal Department has an exciting opportunity for a Legal Intern to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, in-house legal environment. This internship provides a current law student with real-world exposure to legal research, analysis, and support activities related to health law, insurance, and federal contracting.
The intern will work alongside attorneys and legal professionals to support the day-to-day operations of the Legal Department and gain insight into the broader Legal and Compliance functions, as well as the organization as a whole. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and interested in developing practical legal experience within a healthcare organization.
Key DutiesConduct legal research on a variety of topics, including health law, insurance law, tax matters, and federal contracting
Assist with drafting and reviewing legal memoranda, summaries, and other legal documents
Support attorneys with routine legal and administrative tasks related to ongoing matters
Help organize, track, and maintain legal files and documentation
Assist with preparation of materials for internal meetings and presentations
Collaborate with legal team members and cross-functional partners as needed
Participate in departmental meetings and learning opportunities to gain exposure to in-house legal operations
Currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school
3.0 overall GPA
Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
Demonstrated initiative both independently and within a team environment
Team-oriented with a positive, professional attitude
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Preferred: Coursework or academic focus in health law, insurance law, and/or tax law (particularly tax-exempt entities)
Research and summarize legal or regulatory topics relevant to healthcare, insurance, or federal contracting
Support development of internal reference materials (e.g., issue briefs, FAQs, process guides) for common legal questions
Assist with organizing and improving templates, trackers, or knowledge management resources used by the Legal Department
Help prepare summaries and materials for cross-functional collaboration related to legal or compliance initiatives and regulations.

The hiring range for this position is $43,160 - $54,600 USD. At G.E.H.A, the current maximum salary for this role is $60,840 USD.
