As an Intern on the Human Resources team, you will gain hands-on experience supporting payroll administration and a variety of HR operations. Your primary focus will be assisting with accurate and timely payroll processing, reviewing timekeeping information, maintaining records, and responding to routine payroll questions. You will also support HR projects and day-to-day activities based on team and business needs. This opportunity offers practical learning, collaboration with experienced HR professionals, and exposure to multiple areas of Human Resources. 

This is a year-round internship; during the school year, this position is part-time (approximately 15-20 hours per week) based on your class schedule and our company’s business hours, which are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. During the summer and school breaks, the position may flex up to 40 hours per week. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist with preparing and processing payroll data in accordance with established schedules, procedures, and controls. 
  • Review timekeeping records and payroll inputs for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization. 
  • Help research and resolve routine payroll discrepancies, escalating issues when appropriate. 
  • Maintain organized payroll records and supporting documentation in accordance with retention and confidentiality requirements. 
  • Assist with audits, reconciliations, reports, and data validation. 
  • Provide responsive customer service for routine associate questions. 
  • Support HR data entry and record maintenance in HR systems. 
  • Provide support for a variety of HR initiatives and special projects, including data entry, reporting, records management, and other departmental activities as assigned. 
  • Protect confidential employee and business information and follow applicable HR policies and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with HR team members and internal partners to complete work accurately and meet deadlines. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

ESSENTIAL: 

  • Currently pursuing an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy. 
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. 
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, follow established processes, and meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. 
  • Customer-focused approach and willingness to learn in a collaborative team environment. 

PREFERRED: 

  • Previous internship, work-study, customer service, office, or administrative experience. 
  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in payroll, HR operations, accounting, finance, or employee services. 
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, data entry, or HR/payroll systems.
