ABOUT THE TEAM 

 

The Intern will support the Geopolitical Strategy team in its daily tasks and deliverables. In addition, their mandate will be to support ongoing review of indicators for the geopolitical scoring framework, development of a risk flagging service, and to carry out geopolitical risk analysis specific to asset class categories (private investments, infrastructure, real estate, natural resources, credit) as needed. They will be expected to assess the implications of political dynamics and geopolitical relations for global markets and targeted geographies. 

 

 

ABOUT YOUR ROLE 

  

As an Intern, Geopolitics you’ll:   

  • Update geopolitical quantitative tools supporting investment decisions 

  • Review intelligence from external private sources (S&P, Fitch, Banks’ Research, Bloomberg) as well as open-source providers (Transparency International etc.) to process data for our internal database 

  • Evaluate political, regulatory, social, and external indicators as well as on corruption, security, and reputational indicators 

  •  Apply both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to strengthen existing frameworks 

  • Support the Geopolitical Strategy Team by translating global economic and geopolitical developments into actionable asset allocation insights

  • Synthesize interdisciplinary data sets into clear, impactful visualizations that support forward-looking storytelling 

  • Prepare concise, high-quality briefing notes, PowerPoint presentations, and well-balanced geopolitical research materials in a timely manner 

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED  
  • Graduate studies in international relations, geography, economics, finance, security studies, international business, public policy, or related field 

  • Strong grounding in economic and financial fundamentals and geopolitical analysis, with regional specialization 

  • Excellent academic performance 

  • Significant capacity in Excel, PowerBi, R, SPSS, Python, intelligence analysis platforms, and/or ArcGIS/OpenStreetMap 

  • Geographic specialization an asset 

  • Excellent oral and written skills in English; fluency in French is highly beneficial but not essential 

  • Open to learning 

  • Collaborate well 

  • A strong work ethic and a proactive self-starter 

  • Skilled in research, creative writing, data analytics, and visualization 

  • Rigorous attention to detail 

  • Must return to studies after the internship or the internship must be part of your curriculum 

  • Proficiency in English and French (or willingness to learn) (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)   

  • Candidates must have the right to work in Canada* for the period specified to be considered for this position.  No support to obtain the right to work will be provided.
