Summary:

As the Intern – Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the design and development of complex digital electronic systems for NAI products. You will gain practical experience with FPGA design, digital hardware, simulation, circuit testing, and hardware/software integration.

This Internship is for Summer 2027.

Requirements

  • Support the design of complex digital systems using FPGAs, digital hardware, and embedded software.
  • Assist with schematic entry, VHDL test benches, FPGA simulation, and hardware/software integration.
  • Support circuit testing and basic debugging under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Participate in project reviews and technical discussions involving design requirements and tradeoffs.
  • Document engineering activities and complete assigned design-support tasks in accordance with project requirements.

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • Pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of digital circuit design fundamentals and VHDL.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with standard Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Communicate effectively and apply analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Person, defined as either a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), and must be able to provide appropriate documentation upon hire to verify this status. Please note that some positions involve sensitive customer contracts and require U.S. citizenship as a condition of employment. 

Preferred Skills

  • Possess internship, project, or coursework experience involving FPGA design, digital electronics, or embedded systems.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and a strong interest in learning new engineering technologies. 

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Monday to Friday, Day Shift
  • Discretionary 9/80 Schedule
  • Business casual dress code

Full-time schedules for Summer internships. Approx. Start Date End of May/Beg of June. Internship salary is based on position and academic year standing.
