This job will be an onsite role.
The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is offering a limited number of exciting internships to qualified college students. Summer internships are full-time paid positions that start in May/June and typically last 10 to 12 weeks.
The desktop support technician is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to end-users for hardware, software, and network connectivity issues. This role acts as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving end-user device related problems in a timely and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to and resolve incoming support requests from users via phone, email, or in-person
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity problems on desktops, laptops, and other end-user devices
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computer equipment and peripheral devices
  • Assist with the deployment of new hardware and software to end-users
  • Provide training and guidance to users on the proper use of computer systems and applications
  • Maintain detailed documentation and records of all support activities and resolutions
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to higher-level IT support teams as needed
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure consistency in support processes and standards

Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or a related technical field.
  • Hands on experience providing technical support and desktop/end-user computing assistance
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of common desktop operating systems (Windows, iOS), productivity software, and hardware
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical users
  • Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and continuously expand technical knowledge
