WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR 

Are you interested in a career in communications within the music industry? Are you passionate about public relations, media relations, and events, and want to learn more about these areas? 

The Recording Academy—the organization behind the GRAMMY awards—is responsible for groundbreaking professional development, cultural enrichment, advocacy, education and human services programs for the music community. The Communications Department is seeking an intern to work in its fast-paced, dynamic department where multi-tasking is key, professionalism is enforced, and a desire to learn is essential. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

  • Internship duration is for a semester (12 weeks or equivalent). 

  • Hours are part-time (20-24 hours a week). 

  • Draft press materials while keeping to brand guidelines, perform copy editing services as necessary 

  • Develop interesting story angles and fresh content ideas 

  • Pitch genre-specific media, and supply writers with needed assets 

  • Work events on-site, including press conferences, red carpet events, and media rooms 

  • Coordinate event production paperwork and project trackers 

  • Conduct market research 

  • Generate media lists tailored to specific projects 

  • Track press coverage and create media reports 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate program pursuing degree with major in Communications, Journalism, and/or Public Relations 

  • Letter from school stating that intern will receive college credit for the recording academy internship.  

  • Possess strong verbal, written and analytical skills. 

  • Be a junior, senior or graduate student. 

  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail 

  • Ability to work as a member of a team 

  • Proficiency in multiple computer applications including Microsoft Office programs 

  • Honesty, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain confidential material and maintain professionalism

A friend and ally of the music community, MusiCares was established by the Recording Academy to safeguard the health and well-being of all music people. A four-star charity and safety net in times of need, MusiCares offers confidential preventative, recovery, and emergency programs to address financial, medical, and personal health issues. Through the generosity of our donors and volunteer professionals, our dedicated team works across the country to ensure the music community has the resources and support it needs.  

  

LATIN RECORDING ACADEMY  

The Latin Recording Academy is an international, membership-based organization comprised of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking recording artists, musicians, songwriters, producers and other creative and technical recording professionals. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for Latin music and its makers. In addition to producing the Latin GRAMMY Awards to honor excellence in the recorded arts and sciences, The Latin Recording Academy provides educational and outreach programs for the Latin music community either directly or through its Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation®
