Overview

Prairie State Generating Company is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in communications, within the energy industry. This paid internship program will provide students with hands-on training, industry experience, and exposure to industry professionals.


Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Drafting internal and external communications, including social media posts
  • Composing articles using information gathered in interviews
  • Developing public relations materials (such as newsletters, infographics, videos, etc.)
  • Planning and assisting with company events and initiatives
  • Supporting human resource functions as they relate to organization and communication
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience


  • To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program and will have completed their freshman year of college.
  • Must be in good academic standing, with at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • Preferred majors of study include: public relations, marketing, journalism and/or communications.
  • MUST be available for a 12-week program beginning in Late-May to Mid-August.

  • Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand operating procedures.
  • Ability to work unsupervised as required.

Work Environment

  • Works in an office environment, with limited exposure to the power plant and coal mine.
  • Exposed to a quiet to moderately noisy environment primarily; very noisy and dirty environment occasionally.
  • Exposed to industrial safety hazards occasionally.

Compensation and Benefits


At Prairie State, the base pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this role is $25.00 per hour Undergraduate level and $28.00 per hour Graduate level.
