Prairie State Generating Company is looking for college students who are interested in a summer intern program in communications, within the energy industry. This paid internship program will provide students with hands-on training, industry experience, and exposure to industry professionals.
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Drafting internal and external communications, including social media posts
- Composing articles using information gathered in interviews
- Developing public relations materials (such as newsletters, infographics, videos, etc.)
- Planning and assisting with company events and initiatives
- Supporting human resource functions as they relate to organization and communication
- Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience
- To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program and will have completed their freshman year of college.
- Must be in good academic standing, with at least a 3.0 GPA.
- Preferred majors of study include: public relations, marketing, journalism and/or communications.
- MUST be available for a 12-week program beginning in Late-May to Mid-August.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation and Benefits
At Prairie State, the base pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this role is $25.00 per hour Undergraduate level and $28.00 per hour Graduate level.

What We Do
Prairie State Generating Company, LLC operates the Prairie State Energy Campus, a large-scale power-generation facility. The campus uses modern technology to produce cleaner, baseload electricity for member communities and is owned by nonprofit municipal utilities and electric cooperatives. Its core business is operating a coal-fired electrical power station and supplying reliable, baseload energy to participating member communities through a community-focused ownership model.
