We are looking for an intern (at least 3 months) in the Technology Development Department.

Overall Purpose of Brooks Automation (Germany):

We are a supplier to the major semiconductor manufacturers and develop tools and processes for cleaning processes in the semiconductor industry. With decreasing node size (down to a few nanometers) cleaning and contamination control processes have become more and more important for the semiconductor industry. Nowadays even molecular contamination in the wafer environment or on lithography masks can have a big impact on the yield and quality of fabricated microchips. Therefore, in our team we develop new cleaning and contamination control processes for the semiconductor industry, with special emphasis on cleaning and storage of wafer carriers and lithography masks.

Your Responsibilities.

• Continuous development of existing processes and technologies and development of entirely new processes
• Chemical and physical analysis of particulate and gaseous contamination by microscopy and spectroscopy (FTIR, CRDS, light microscopy, electron microscopy, etc.)
• Run feasibility studies for new technical concepts and investigate their performance
• Perform scientific and technical assistance
• Hands-on work on vacuum systems and cleaning tools
• Provide support to other departments with feasibility studies, chemical and physical analysis
• Research on potentially new techniques and existing processes
• Problem analysis and research on suitable solutions for upcoming challenges

Your Experience and Qualifications.

• Student in the field of chemistry, physics or related
• Highly motivated for research and development
• The knowledge or motivation to learn about vacuum processes, contamination in the semiconductor industry, polymers and the semiconductor industry in general
• High self-motivation, good communication skills and assertiveness
• Goal-oriented, structured, result-oriented and independent working style as well as the ability to work in a team
• Good communication skills in English for communication with international team
