Job Description
We are looking for an Intern to join the Data Scouting team in CPP Investments’ Technology & Operations (‘T&O’) department. This role will be in the Toronto Office for the Summer 2025 work term, and you will report to the Director, Data Scouting.
The Data Scouting team is responsible for managing the organization's extensive portfolio of market data. This centralized unit supports all asset classes, ensuring the effective utilization and contracting of external data throughout the investment process, from analytics to operations, covering the entire investment lifecycle. The team oversees the entire span of external commercial data contracts and collaborates closely with business groups and the legal department for initial contract revisions before final legal review.
Primary Responsibilities
- Proactively track pipeline for upcoming contract expiry and follow up with Contract Owners to take necessary action.
- Support Contract Owners in contract revision by utilizing the intake forms, directives, playbooks, and other guidance provided by Legal team.
- Work closely with the Legal team to ensure the regulatory and legal contractual terms are drafted appropriately based on the engagement type.
- Liaise with third party risk management counterparts to incorporate risk considerations into the agreement based on the due diligence outcome.
- Support and follow up on the authorizations and approvals for contracts with CPP Investments signatories and vendors.
- Handle day-to-day activities throughout the end-to-end contract lifecycle processes in collaboration with Contract Owners and in line with CPP Investments’ policies and procedures.
- Perform analysis and develop reporting to help identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency and to support decision making (e.g.: contract expiry analysis, variances in standard terms, cycle times etc.).

Qualifications
Who We’re Looking For
- Preference will be given to students pursuing a Law degree. However, candidates enrolled in any undergraduate or graduate program, who are returning to school in Fall 2025, are welcome to apply.
- Supporting comprehensive legal research and producing high-quality legal writing.
- Familiarity with commercial law principles and practices is considered an asset.
- The ideal candidate demonstrates excellence in both oral and written communication, along with strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
