As an Intermodal Operations Specialist you will play a critical role working within the company’s Intermodal department by coordinating, facilitating, and executing the intermodal shipment process on behalf of Knichel Logistics intermodal customers while complying with all customer requirements and service level agreements. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Class 1 railroads, intermodal rail operations, drayage management, and customer service. This role requires expertise in coordinating intermodal movements and ensuring smooth operations across multiple rail networks and delivering best in class customer service. We are seeking a Intermodal Operations Specialist to play a critical role in ensuring seamless execution of shipments while living out our core values: Customer Obsessed, Team Focused, Be Valuable, Do the Right Thing.
What You Will Do
- Daily contact with Knichel Logistics intermodal dray carriers to confirm timely pick-up and deliveries of Knichel Logistics intermodal shipments.
- Escalate any service issues/exceptions to the appropriate account manager.
- Order entry of intermodal customer shipments in compliance with customer and company standard operating procedures.
- Will send railroad shipping instructions to the rail in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide exceptional service to our carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders to include Sales and Account Management.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 3 years of experience in logistics, specifically intermodal customer service and operations
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively across various customers and shipments
- Detail-oriented and skilled at problem-solving with a proactive approach.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively across the company
- Comfortable engaging and building relationships with multiple stakeholders to include shippers, carriers, rails and internal team members
- Demonstrated communication, prioritization and time management skills
- Experience working with MS Office; including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Values a diverse and inclusive work environment
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent business experience
- One year of logistics, customer service, and/or hospitality industry experience
