Performs dimensional inspections, fixture and hand-tool calibrations, GR&R studies, CMM programming, PPAP and layout reporting. Job Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will perform all the duties of a Junior Technician but also integrate a sound problem solving skills and work more independently.  The Intermediate Technician will also be responsible for hand tool calibrations, Cogentin’s inspections and training of Junior Technicians.

Pay: $38.66/hr


Minimum Requirements
  • 3-year Karmax Heavy Stamping experience as a Junior Layout Technician or 4 years external work experience in a related field.
  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED.
  • Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant.
  • Exceptional knowledge and certificate in GD&T.
  • Understanding of the usage and design concepts for part inspection fixtures.
  • CAD and experience (AutoCAD, CATIA,)
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Good mathematical, analytical and organizational skill

Job Specific Responsibilities
  • Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Checking fixture calibrations & GR & R studies
  • Perform annual part layouts, PPAP’s, PIST & PIPC’s, general inspection reports
  • Write, amend and debug CMM programs using CAD and PC-Dmis
  • Conduct inspection reports to investigate an internal or customer issue
  • Inspection using standard hand metrology tools
  • Ability to administration of the Cognitens systems
  • Work with Karmax Engineering, Customers and suppliers to resolve dimensional concerns
  • Provide layout training as required
  • Perform handheld measuring tool calibrations and the ability to administrate the lab system
  • Safely operate the overhead crane, blue giant and buggy
  • Order supplies as required using the KPS system
  • Manual CMM operation (scribing duties)
  • Acting supervisor on off-shifts and when the supervisor is out of the plant
  • Active with quality and information technology system improvements
  • Assist with APQP tasks and AQP personnel
  • Required to work overtime to meet customer needs and work a three-shift rotation.
  • Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement—3 Ps.
  • Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax Manufacturing.
  • Work within the guidelines of the Karmax Manufacturing Employee Handbook and safety rules.
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition. 
  • Lean manufacturing and 5S concepts awareness and adherence
  • Work safely, ethically and professionally while supporting company objectives and values.
  • Comply with all applicable quality, environmental, and health and safety requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean and organized workplace.
