What We’re Looking ForThe Intermediate Database Engineer plays a key role in EROAD’s enterprise data platform. This role is primarily focused on database engineering and administration—designing, maintaining, and optimizing SQL Server and Azure SQL databases—while also supporting ETL workflows and contributing to data integrity, performance, and availability across enterprise systems.
You will contribute to end‑to‑end data delivery, from managing and optimizing database environments through to supporting data ingestion, transformation, and reporting needs.
You will work closely with engineers, analysts, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, high‑quality database solutions that support data‑driven decision‑making. This role is ideal for someone with strong SQL Server expertise who enjoys working in high‑transactional environments and is keen to grow further in cloud and automation practices.
About the RoleJob ResponsibilitiesDatabase Engineering & Administration
• Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, stored procedures, and functions.
• Optimize queries, indexes, and database structures for performance and scalability.
• Manage and administer Azure SQL databases, including provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and security.
• Configure and maintain SQL Server environments across on‑premise and cloud platforms.
• Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor database health and troubleshoot performance or availability issues.
Data Integration & Platform Support
• Develop and manage ETL workflows for data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
• Support data validation, testing, and quality assurance activities.
• Assist in data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development.
• Contribute to automation and DevOps initiatives related to database deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
Collaboration & Enablement
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and infrastructure teams to support data‑driven initiatives.
• Apply best practices in database design, performance tuning, and security.
• Contribute to documentation, data standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Qualifications• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical database solutions.
• Effective communication with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy, stability, and performance.
• A proactive mindset toward automation, cloud technologies, and continuous improvement.
• Strong SQL Server development experience, including T‑SQL and performance tuning.
• Experience managing Azure SQL or similar cloud‑based database platforms.
• Solid understanding of database design, indexing strategies, backups, and security.
• Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or similar.
• Familiarity with data modelling concepts and enterprise data environments.
• 3–4 years of hands‑on experience in SQL Server database development and administration.
• Experience supporting high‑volume, high‑transactional systems.
• Experience with cloud‑based data platforms.
• Exposure to ETL processes and data integration pipelines.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Exposure to Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other database technologies.
• Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and data governance principles.
