Our client, a leading global mining group, is seeking an Intermediate Data Engineer with strong Power BI expertise to support its People & Analytics (HR) team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with enterprise-scale HR data, building modern data solutions and delivering actionable insights that drive strategic workforce decisions.
The successful candidate will have experience designing and maintaining data pipelines, transforming data for reporting and analytics, and developing interactive Power BI dashboards. You will collaborate with HR stakeholders and technical teams to ensure accurate, reliable, and meaningful people analytics.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks.
- Extract, transform, and load (ETL/ELT) data from multiple enterprise data sources.
- Build and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for HR and People Analytics.
- Write efficient SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across reporting environments.
- Optimise existing data models and reporting solutions for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with HR stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot data issues and implement sustainable fixes.
- Document data processes, models, and technical solutions.
- Support continuous improvements to the organisation's analytics and reporting capabilities.
Requirements
- 3–5 years' experience as a Data Engineer or similar data-focused role.
- Strong experience with Databricks.
- Advanced SQL development skills.
- Proven experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Understanding of data modelling and data warehousing principles.
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, globally distributed team.
- Experience working with HR, People Analytics, or workforce data.
- Exposure to Azure data services.
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
- Experience within mining, engineering, or other large enterprise environments.
