Overview of the positionWe’re looking for a Solutions Engineer to design and deliver automation, tools, and AI-enabled workflows that solve real business problems.
This is a hands-on role where you will:
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business
- Rapidly prototype and deliver solutions
- Use modern platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, automation tools, and AI technologies
- Build solutions that are used in practice and deliver immediate impact
You will also act as a key technical contributor for the team and work closely with the wider AI and Engineering organisation to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned to best practices.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Design and deliver automation, tools, and AI-enabled solutions
- Translate business needs into practical, working solutions
- Rapidly prototype and iterate: idea → working solution → improved solution
- Build integrations and workflows connecting data, systems, and platforms
- Use modern platforms (e.g. Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, APIs) to deliver solutions
- Collaborate directly with stakeholders to refine and improve outputs
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation at scale
- Contribute to reusable components, standards, and best practices
- Build and maintain integrations across systems and platforms, including APIs, data flows, and workflows
- Apply reliable engineering practices (e.g. error handling, validation, retries) to ensure solutions work in real-world conditions
- Write clean, well-structured code (e.g. Python) using AI-assisted development tools where appropriate to accelerate delivery
- Support testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting to maintain solution performance and reliability
- Document solutions, workflows, and key logic to support reuse and maintainability
You will act as the technical expert within the team, bringing depth in both building and reviewing solutions.
This includes:
- Writing and maintaining code where needed (e.g. Python, SQL, scripts, integrations)
- Reviewing and improving code written by others, including AI-generated code (e.g. pull requests)
- Ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and fit for purpose
- Advising on the best technical approach for different use cases
- Raising the overall technical quality and standards of the team
This is a hands-on role where you will both build solutions yourself and elevate how the team delivers them.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who can build, deliver, and take ownership of technical solutions.
Technical skills
- Experience writing clean, maintainable code (e.g. Python, SQL, or similar) for automation, data processing, or integrations
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. code generation, prompt-based coding) to support faster prototyping and delivery
- Experience working with APIs, integrations, and data workflows
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure services to support data integration, automation, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions.
- Ability to review, debug, and improve code, including AI-generated outputs
- Experience with automation tools or workflow platforms
- Familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g. Microsoft Fabric, Power, or similar)
Coding is a core part of this role — you should be confident building and reviewing solutions end-to-end
Core capabilities
- Strong problem-solving and logical thinking
- Ability to turn ideas into working tools or workflows
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Comfortable working across multiple teams and disciplines, building effective relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Practical, delivery-focused mindset
What Makes This Role Different
- You will focus on building solutions
- You will work directly with stakeholders, not through long delivery cycles
- You will use AI and automation as core tools, not add-ons
- You will see your work used quickly with real impact
- You will play a key role in shaping how the organisation delivers AI-driven solutions at scale
What Success Looks Like
- Delivering solutions that are used and valued by the business
- Turning manual processes into efficient, automated workflows
- Building tools that are scalable and reusable
- Raising the quality and robustness of the team’s technical output
