The Opportunity
The Safety and Technical Services US Class / HCA team is seeking an Engineer or Professional Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will be part of a high-performing group of engineers, technologists, and analysts who strive to enhance the safety and compliance of TC Energy's US pipeline infrastructure. In this role you will participate in the annual class / HCA assessment of the US natural gas pipeline system for conformance with regulated codes and standards, and sponsor remediation projects to ensure safe long-term operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders including technical subject matter experts, regulatory compliance experts, and federal regulatory bodies.
What you'll do
- Support the development and implementation of TC Energy's Class / HCA Programs
- Apply your knowledge as a subject matter expert in planning and conducting the annual class / HCA assessment
- Collaborate with stakeholders including technical subject matter and regulatory compliance experts to ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations.
- Provide technical leadership in engineering analysis and risk mitigation
- Analyze data, identify trends, and implement short- and long-term plans for ongoing improvements
- Review and assess land development to identify proactive remediation projects
- Define work scope and participate in design reviews for remediation projects
- Provide technical support to other pipeline Integrity and company stakeholders as required
- Develop and update documented procedures to support the continual improvement of TC Energy's Class / HCA Programs
- Contribute to a continuous improvement culture related to process and procedures, supporting efficiency and consistency efforts
- Communicate and report technical and project work progress to Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentoring to Engineers-in-Training and students
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of related industry engineering or technologist experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Diploma in Engineering Technology, or equivalent
- Applicants without an Engineering degree but with significant relevant experience may be considered for the Technologist job ladder.
- For Canada Engineer candidates: Registered, or eligible to register, with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing
- Professional experience with ArcGIS or other GIS Platforms
- Thorough understanding of US Federal Pipeline Regulations (CFR 192) and standards
- Experience in audit, assurance, and regulatory engagements
- Experience in developing technical procedures and processes to ensure safety, compliance, efficiency and effectiveness
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a track record of task completion and change leadership
- Excellent communication (written and oral), time management, decision-making, and negotiation skills
- Computer skills, ability to learn customized software in addition to SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management experience
- Ability to apply or to quickly learn PowerBI, Python, SQL will provide opportunities for increased innovation and responsibility
