At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improving daily operations, join us and be part of our journey.

As an OT&A Integration and Testing Lead, you will play a critical role in delivering the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) Transformation Project. You will lead the governance and coordination of testing activities related to terminal automation and operational technology deployments. Working closely with operations, engineering, IT, OT teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders, you will ensure that complex technology solutions, system integrations, and operational processes are validated and ready for successful deployment into live terminal operations.

Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

  • Contribute to a major terminal transformation programme involving automation, operational technology, infrastructure upgrades, and new operating models.
  • Collaborate with global technology, engineering, operations, and project teams on complex integration and testing initiatives.
  • Develop expertise in terminal automation, industrial technology, and digital transformation within a global port organisation.
  • Work in an international environment where collaboration, continuous improvement, and structured problem-solving are central to project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and govern the Integration and Testing Strategy for automation and operational technology deployments across the NTB Transformation Project.
  • Develop and maintain Test Plans, testing governance frameworks, schedules, acceptance criteria, and reporting standards throughout all project phases.
  • Coordinate end-to-end testing activities, including factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, interface testing, system integration testing, operational scenario testing, user acceptance testing, performance testing, and operational readiness testing.
  • Establish requirement-to-test traceability across business requirements, system requirements, operational processes, safety requirements, and technical interfaces.
  • Lead integration planning across terminal operating systems, equipment control systems, crane automation, remote control systems, OCR solutions, automated equipment, OT infrastructure, and industrial networks.
  • Manage defect governance processes, including prioritisation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, retesting, and escalation of unresolved risks.
  • Coordinate testing activities between internal teams, vendors, solution providers, and terminal stakeholders to ensure delivery against project requirements.
  • Maintain testing evidence, readiness assessments, acceptance documentation, and go-live validation materials.
  • Support transition into business-as-usual operations through knowledge transfer, documentation handover, and lessons learned.

What We Are Looking For

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
  • Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in automation, systems integration, testing, commissioning, OT, or complex industrial technology environments.
  • Experience leading integration or testing workstreams within multi-vendor project environments.
  • Proven experience developing Test Strategies, Test Plans, defect management processes, and readiness validation activities.
  • Experience in container terminals, industrial automation, logistics automation, or other complex live operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of terminal operating systems and equipment control systems, preferably Navis N4 or equivalent.
  • Experience with PLC-based automation systems, Siemens PLCs, TIA Portal, WinCC, Ignition, industrial communication protocols, OT networks, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience using structured test and defect management tools, preferably Jira and Xray or equivalent solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently across project, vendor, and operational environments.
  • English proficiency is required; German proficiency is preferred.
