The Role
The INT Finance Strategy & Integration Leader will serve as a senior Finance leader for INT and a key strategic partner to the Head of CMC & INT Finance. This individual will play a central role in integrating financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and decision support across the INT organization while helping lead the broader cross-functional INT Finance team.

The role will own the consolidated INT financial planning and reporting framework, including direct ownership of the consolidated CMC financial model supporting short-term forecasts, long-range planning, performance reporting, scenario analysis, and strategic decision-making. The individual will ensure that financial assumptions, risks, opportunities, and business drivers are consistently reflected across the INT financial outlook and clearly communicated to senior leadership.

In addition to direct individual-contributor responsibilities, this leader will provide dotted-line leadership and coordination across the INT FP&A organization, including Finance partners supporting Commercial & Medical, Research & Development, and CMC. The role will establish common planning standards, drive alignment across functional Finance teams, and ensure that INT leadership has a cohesive and decision-ready view of financial performance.

A significant near-term priority for this leader will be owning the Finance readiness agenda for INT commercial go live. The individual will orchestrate Finance activities across functions to ensure that the processes, systems, reporting, controls, organizational responsibilities, and cross-company ways of working required for commercialization are established and operational. While the intensity of this mandate will be greatest in the first 6–12 months, the role will be responsible for transitioning launch-readiness activities into sustainable ongoing Finance capabilities.

This role will sit on the INT Leadership Team, engage frequently with Merck as Moderna’s alliance partner, and represent Finance in strategic, operational, and financial discussions across the INT organization. The individual will operate with significant independence and serve as a close partner and extension of the Head of CMC & INT Finance across a broad and evolving set of priorities.

This role requires exceptional judgment, financial and business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to influence across complex organizational boundaries without relying on formal authority.

Here’s What You’ll Do
INT Leadership Partnership

  • Serve as the senior Finance representative on the INT Leadership Team, bringing financial perspective to strategic, operational, and investment discussions.
  • Provide dotted-line leadership to Finance partners supporting INT Commercial & Medical, Research & Development, and CMC, including leading cross-functional Finance discussions to align assumptions, and create a unified financial narrative for INT.
  • Translate evolving INT strategy and business priorities into financial implications and ensure that Finance planning appropriately reflects leadership decisions.
  • Provide senior leadership and continuity across INT Finance while enabling the Head of CMC & INT Finance to effectively span responsibilities across INT and other areas of the organization.

Integrated INT Financial Planning & Reporting

  • Lead the integration of INT financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance management across CMC, Commercial & Medical, Research & Development, and other relevant areas.
  • Develop and maintain a consolidated financial view of INT, ensuring consistent assumptions, methodologies, timelines, and definitions across functional Finance teams.
  • Drive scenario and sensitivity analysis to inform strategic choices, resource allocation, and business trade-offs.
  • Synthesize complex financial and operational information into clear, executive-ready insights for the INT Leadership Team, Finance leadership, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure connectivity between INT financial planning and broader Moderna Finance processes, including Corporate FP&A and other relevant Finance organizations.

Consolidated INT Model Ownership

  • Serve as the individual-contributor owner of the consolidated INT financial model, including short-term forecasting, long-range planning, and ongoing performance reporting.
  • Establish disciplined model governance, including clear ownership of assumptions, change controls, scenario management, documentation, and reconciliation.
  • Continually evolve the model to reflect changes in the business, improve forecast accuracy, and support increasingly sophisticated financial and operational analysis.
  • Use the model to surface key sensitivities, trade-offs, risks, and opportunities for senior INT and Finance leadership.

Commercial Go-Live Finance Readiness

  • Lead the broader Finance readiness workstream for INT commercial go-live, ensuring that the Finance organization is prepared to support commercialization from both an operational and financial perspective.
  • Establish and manage an integrated Finance readiness plan spanning the critical activities, dependencies, milestones, decisions, and risks required for successful commercial launch.
  • Partner closely with Commercial, Supply Chain, Digital, and other business functions to identify Finance requirements arising from the evolving commercial operating model and ensure those requirements are addressed ahead of go-live.
  • Develop and maintain a consolidated view of Finance readiness for the Head of CMC & INT Finance and other senior leaders, highlighting status, critical decisions, emerging risks, and areas requiring leadership intervention.
  • Coordinate closely with Merck where Finance readiness activities depend on cross-company processes, data flows, operating assumptions, systems, or governance.
  • Transition newly established processes and capabilities into sustainable business-as-usual ownership following commercial go-live, ensuring clear accountability and effective handoffs across the Finance organization.

Merck Alliance Partnership

  • Serve as a senior Finance counterpart to Merck on INT financial, operational, and strategic matters.
  • Engage frequently with Merck Finance and business leadership to align on forecasts, assumptions, financial performance, planning processes, and key business drivers.
  • Support the financial dimensions of alliance governance and strategic discussions, ensuring Moderna leadership has a clear understanding of financial implications and areas requiring alignment.
  • Independently lead resolution of complex cross-company financial topics and coordinate appropriate Moderna stakeholders when broader organizational input is required.
  • Develop strong, credible relationships with Merck counterparts and help establish effective and scalable Finance ways of working across the alliance.
  • Provide Moderna Finance leadership with transparency into emerging alliance topics, risks, opportunities, and decisions.
  • Ensure relevant Merck assumptions and inputs are appropriately incorporated into INT financial forecasts and leadership reporting.

Strategic Finance Leadership & Process Excellence

  • Serve as a senior individual contributor capable of independently leading complex, high-impact financial workstreams across INT.
  • Create structure and clarity in areas where processes, ownership, or operating models are still evolving.

  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement across INT forecasting, reporting, modeling, and analytical processes.
  • Strengthen the quality, consistency, and usability of financial information across INT.
  • Build strong connectivity between INT Finance and CMC Finance, Commercial Finance, R&D Finance, Corporate FP&A, Accounting, Digital Finance, Supply Chain Finance, and other relevant parts of the Moderna Finance organization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy, reporting quality, financial controls, data transparency, and cycle times.
  • Lead through influence, judgment, credibility, and relationships rather than through direct reporting authority.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

What We Do

At Moderna, we believe messenger RNA, or mRNA, is the “software of life.” Every cell in the body uses mRNA to provide real-time instructions to make the proteins necessary to drive all aspects of biology, including in human health and disease. Given its essential role, we believe mRNA could be used to create a new category of medicines with significant potential to improve the lives of patients. We are pioneering a new class of medicines made of messenger RNA, or mRNA. The potential implications of using mRNA as a drug are significant and far-reaching and could meaningfully improve how medicines are discovered, developed and manufactured.
