DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Essential Functions:
- Prepares and submits claims to various companies either electronically or via paper. Verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors.
- Maintains patient demographic information and data in EMR systems.
- Verify insurance eligibility for medical insurance by utilizing online websites or by contacting the carriers directly.
- Participates in trainings and attends staff meetings.
- Maintains strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Computer skills, working knowledge of (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, e-mail software).
- Ability to be very flexible in accepting department assignments.
- Skill and ability to function effectively and calmly in an unpredictable or stressful environment.
- Participates in Quality Improvement.
- Completes mail to assigned clients
- If applicable calling on payment status
- If applicable working on unknown files
- Complies with protocols in place
