Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Insurance Operations Specialist to join our Corporate Insurance team. As our Insurance Operations Specialist, you'll be at the heart of our risk mitigation efforts, ensuring smooth daily operations while contributing to the long-term success of our insurance strategies. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at multitasking, has a high attention to detail, and has a passion for the intricate world of insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Placement Support
- Assist in the preparation and submission of insurance applications and renewals
- Gather and organize necessary documentation for policy placements and renewals
- Liaise with underwriters and insurers to obtain quotes and policy terms
- Review insurance policies and quotes for accuracy and completeness before delivery to clients
- Maintain up-to-date records of policy placements, renewals, and related communications
- Support market research and data analysis tasks, including managing flood zone assignments and international program data
- Assist with due diligence in connection with potential acquisition targets, assessing insurance program and coverage requirements for acquired businesses
Administrative Support
- Prepare and issue certificates of insurance in connection with renewals and on an ad hoc basis
- Support mid-term endorsement and other policy servicing tasks
- Schedule and coordinate intake calls, manage client communications, and follow up on documentation
- Review and track endorsements, invoices, and related payments
- Serve as a backup for administrative tasks and support team coverage during absences
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Risk Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Michigan Property & Casualty Producer License (if not licensed, willing to obtain within 6 months of start date)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the insurance industry
- Strong understanding of insurance policies, placement procedures, and account documentation
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly
- Keen attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Proficiency in insurance management software and data entry
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EPIC, Riskonnect, Salesforce
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on placement
- Adaptability to handle various tasks across claims and placement functions
