US Insurance Segment Leader
We are seeking a talented individual to join our US Wealth Leadership team at Mercer. This role will be based in the United States. This is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days per week in the office.
The Insurance Segment Leader will play a critical role in shaping and accelerating the next phase of growth for Mercer’s Insurance segment within the US Wealth business and across Marsh. This role will shape the strategic direction for the segment, drive strong financial performance, and expand Mercer’s presence and impact among captive, insurance and re-insurance companies and across property and casualty, health and life insurance.
We will count on you to:
- Achieve financial results, including revenue, profit, and sales for the Insurance segment
- Serve as the commercial leader responsible for day-to-day business decisions and execution of segment strategic and tactical priorities
- In partnership with key segment and commercial leaders, set and execute the strategic direction including segmentation, value proposition, and competitive positioning
- Manage direct reports and influence key partners in sales, local offices and other segments
- Develop and manage talent within the segment
- Support broader US Investments leadership objectives and collaborate with Insurance segment leaders globally
- Drive cross-Marsh collaboration to unlock additional opportunities, particularly with Marsh Risk, Marsh Re and Oliver Wyman
- Identify opportunities to expand Mercer’s services and solutions to meet the evolving needs of Insurance investors
- Maintain strong industry expertise to guide solution development and ensure Mercer continues to deliver high quality services to Insurance clients
- Thrive and be motivated by an environment that embraces AI and technology-enabled tools.
What you need to have:
- Deep understanding of insurance client needs, including business models, investment strategies, regulatory, capital, and accounting considerations, and the use of alternatives investments
- Ability to lead complex dialog with Chief Investment Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Treasurers, Investment Committees and Boards of Insurers
- Proven ability to develop a robust multi-year strategy including market analysis, competitive analysis, proposition development, financial modeling, and resourcing
- Experience developing and executing commercial business plans that translate into measurable financial results
- Experience developing innovative solutions, products, or services tailored to insurance clients
- Ability to identify and elevate potential inorganic growth opportunities in the segment

- 15+ years of experience advising on or overseeing insurance portfolios including complex fixed income, capital efficient investment solutions and other alternative investments
- Direct experience in an insurer, re-insurer, insurance broker or other component of the global insurance ecosystem
- Demonstrated ability to scale or transform a business focused on insurance investors
- Presence and leadership in dynamic settings, internally and externally
- Strong commercial acumen combined with strategic and operational leadership skills
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams and foster collaboration across multiple stakeholders
