Applied Materials is looking for an Instructional Training Designer to join our global learning center in Treviso - Italy.
This role is ideal for a learning professional who enjoys designing structured, high‑quality training solutions, working closely with Subject Matter Experts, and driving projects forward in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment.
This position focuses on learning design and development (not training delivery), supporting a global audience through scalable, standards‑driven training programs.
What You Will DoAs an Instructional Designer, you will act as both a learning architect and project driver, balancing deep design work with cross‑functional collaboration.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to analyze training needs and define clear, measurable learning objectives
- Designing effective learning experiences using established instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM)
- Selecting the most appropriate learning formats (eLearning, Instructor‑Led Training, Web‑Based Training, videos, job aids, guides)
- Developing multi‑modal learning assets for adult learners, including interactive eLearning, student and facilitator guides, assessments, and supporting content
- Creating and refining assessments aligned with learning objectives (quizzes, knowledge checks, closed‑book exams, troubleshooting scenarios)
- Managing projects end‑to‑end: timelines, milestones, risks, dependencies, and cross‑functional handoffs
- Leading review cycles and incorporating feedback to ensure quality, consistency, and effectiveness
- Coordinating with production teams and supporting course release through the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Working across regions and time zones while keeping projects on track
- Experience in instructional design for adult learners in corporate training, professional development, or continuing education
- A degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Sciences, or a related field (certifications are a plus)
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design frameworks (Andragogy, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Cognitive Load Theory, Gagné’s Nine Events)
- Proven experience working in an SME‑partner model
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- A proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with strong organizational and planning skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a global, multicultural environment
- Learning Management Systems (e.g., Saba, Canvas, Moodle)
- eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia
- Project management tools (e.g., Smartsheets, Jira, MS Project)
- Collaboration tools (MS Teams, Google Docs, Slack)
- Graphic design or video editing tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) are a plus
- Work in a global, collaborative learning organization
